Tasting Syrups
I did a syrup tasting by myself this morning on my waffle. Three different sections of waffle, three different syups. Old Fashioned syrup from Safeway (generic) Natural syrup from Trader Joes (grade B) and good ol’ Mrs.Butterworths.
I found the Safeway syrup tasting a little to much like refined sugar and molasses. The Trader Joes was very good, and the only one whos viscosity allowed it to be absorbed into the waffle. The Mrs. Butterworth’s has that great butter flavor, but you know you just gained a pound after you eat it.
Based on tast, I would have to go with Mrs. Butterworth’s, but the overall winner in my book is the Trader Joe’s syrup. It’s affordable, last’s forever, tastes great, and you know there aren’t any additives with this one.
