Abreu under fire
David Abreu, one of the premier vineyard managers in Napa Valley, is under attack by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District who accuses him of burning large fires in January of this year with no regard for the environment or City laws. The case is slated for a July court date, and carries a maximum penalty of $1500. Although that would be a drop in the bucket for a guy who makes as much as David, he plans to fight all the charges based on principle. He charges that jealousy is behind the accusations. Abreu is the acclaimed vineyard manager for such wineries as Colgin, Spottswoode, Staglin, Oakford, and others.
