Napa Valley Wine Auction Hits New High
Coming off the success of the 2000 auction which raised 9.5 Million, The Napa Valley Wine Auction wasn’t quite able to touch their former success, until now. The 25th Auction held this last weekend raised an unprecedented 10.5 Million, almost doubling last year’s 5.3 Million. Perhaps it was the new format, tripling Saturday’s ticket prices and shortening the event. Or maybe it was some of the creative lots, like dinner with Teri Hatcher of Desperate Housewives fame. Or it could have been the new high tech approach to silent auctions,
Registered bidders placed bids on “e-auction†lots at sleek, touch screen kiosks located throughout the grounds and high bids were tracked on giant 9×12 foot screens. The new high-tech approach raised three times the amount of the 2004 silent auction, closing out at $179,800.
Whatever it was, it worked.
