Decanting 101

To decant or not to decant, that really is the question posed to many and their wine. “But this is a younger wine, it doesn’t benefit from decanting, I want to see it evolve in my glass” you say? Some restaurants go out of their way to make sure all of the wine ordered is decanted, whether white or red, old or young, sparkling or not. Others quaff at any hint that you would like to aerate your young red. What is the answer? Most wines do benefit from some aeration, whether in your glass or in a decanter, so let that baby breathe.
