The NVWCFF & The SCWCFF Take Center Stage
The Napa Valley Wine Country Film Festival (Way to long a name for the title of this post) is set to begin the last weekend of this month, July 28-31, followed by the Sonoma County Wine Country Film Festival which runs from August 11-28. When compared to other film festivals, the tone at this film festival is different. A laid back appreciation for the art of film making, as well as for the setting, lends itself to a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. Much like Livermore’s California Independent Film Festival that I have attended, the wine takes a back seat to the films but at the same time enhances the experience. But then there are the stars. The festival has both an outdoor showing of films under the nights sky, and a list of celebs that have made an appearance in the past, including Francis Ford Coppola, Nicolas Cage, Richard Dreyfuss, George Lucas, Lynn Redgrave and Kirk Douglas.
