Ready to put a Hobo in your Wine Cellar?

by jatemack on August 10, 2005

Hobo U10Onset computer Corp is hoping you are, and they have just released the HOBO U10 Temperature and RH USB Data Logger. Don’t worry, this Hobo actually protects your wine. Simply put, this pager sized computer records the temperature and relative humidity (RH) level in your wine cellar and alerts you if levels ever get to low or high. The data can be output to a PC via USB (you probably need a laptop) and cute graphs can be reviewed and printed out. For less than $165 ($69 Hardware $95 Software)this investment could pay for itself rather quickly, alerting you when your cellar reaches unacceptable levels in the event of a power outage etc. Of course the lights going out may give you a hint there’s been an outage and you should probably check on your wine. Nevertheless, if you can set it up with remote alerts to your cell phone, this thing would be awesome. After reading through the product pages, I am still not sure how the alerts work.
