Review: The Emperor of Wine

This article in the Brendenton Herald written by Bill Daley reviews the ideas from Elin McCoy’s new book,
“The Emperor of Wine, The Rise of Robert M. Parker Jr. and the Reign of American Taste”. Parker’s influence is huge, as even I find myself consulting his ratings, trumping any other industry professionals, before I buy a bottle. The article and book explore the global effect Parker has had and reveals insight into why some choose not to submit their bottles for ratings by him. His likes and dislikes are evident in his work, pinpointing characteristics found only in certain regions that consistently receive higher marks. I recently ordered this book from Amazon, it is discounted right now from the suggested $25.95 retail price to $17.13.
