How much more press on Pinot Noir can we stand? I’m at my limit. Don’t get me wrong, I love the varietal, always have since the day I first tasted it. But with the Sideway’s phenomenon assisting Pinot Noir sales, and adversely affecting merlot, I say, buy Merlot, buy Mouvedre, buy Sarah, buy Grenache. Why pay the rising prices of Pinot when their are other grapes out there that provide just as satisfying (albeit different) flavors on the palate. I’m just going to keep moving, staying ahead of the rest of the American public. For a guy that just entered a writing contest on Pinot Noir, maybe it’s a little two faced, but I’ve got an excuse. I’m young and fickle.
Buy Merlot, Buy Mouvedre
