You Down With LBV, Yeah You Know ME…

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

O.K. so that was a lame attempt at a funny headline using an old OPP song. Don Sebastiani is to blame, as his new label, Le Bon Vin De La Napa Valley, or LBV for short, was released today, and touts the Zork Cork Closure [Pictured Above]. Actually in reading the article, I found the [...]

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

Remember the late 90’s, when every company used buzz words to cocentrically market the growing C2B webosphere netsourcing? A study done by John Gillespie of the Wine Marketing Council in St. Helena, leads him to believe that white wines would benefit by using the word ‘Fresh’ in their marketing. Or so the statement is made on the Uncyclopedia, a satire site in the Wiki style. For a laugh on what our fellow Homo sapiens have thought up in reference to the worlds finest beverage, take a minute read the Wine page. (There’s even a picture of Jesus Juice.)

Mixed Feelings on Recent Trade Agreement

Monday, September 19th, 2005

Announced last week, the new agreement for American Winemakers with Europe allows for semi-generic place names to continue to be used by some wineries, but prohibits any new additions. This has gotten some European winemakers up in arms as they continue to contest that these semi-generic names, like “California Champagne”, are misleading and confusing. James [...]

Science is trying to duplicate the job of the human nose and tongue. Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have apparently used Nano technology to do this and have published their findings in a recent issue of Nano Letters, a journal published by the American Chemical Society. The process uses “Nano-sized carbon tubes coated with [...]

California Winemakers rejoice new agreement with Europe

Friday, September 16th, 2005

California Winemakers have been a buzz since Wednesday, when the EC (European Community) announced they would allow California wines to be imported without having to meet the rigid European standards of wine making. The new world techniques employed by many California wineries, such as the addition of Malic Acid to balance a Wine, were allowed [...]

Daiginjo Podcast from SFGate

Thursday, September 15th, 2005

That’s right, the San Francisco Chronicle has jumped on the podwagon and Blake Grey’s article on Daiginjo Sake is now available. I had a great Daiginjo with sushi the other night, light blue bottle, with a label I was unable to read. Daiginjo is top quality Sake and exhibits some beautiful flavors and a soft [...]

Wednesday, September 14th, 2005

Google Blog Search Beta is out, and of course I did a search for Wine. What came up? Not me. Chocolate & Zucchini actually came up before me. In fact, I was hard pressed to find a Blogger from Blogger in the first four pages! You think Google, who owns Blogger would optimize it for [...]

The Best Pizza Ever - Off the Grill

Monday, September 12th, 2005

This is possibly the best pizza I have ever had, and it’s a recipe that anyone with a Barbecue (Preferably Gas) can make. My father came to my house one day, and my wife and I planned on making pizza in the oven on the stone as we normally do. Larry recommended throwing it on [...]
