Books: Wine in Ohio
Filed Under: PrintIt’s the state who’s residents love to get away. The Wright brothers tried to leave Ohio in the first plane. The first man to orbit the earth, left from his homeland in Ohio. The first man to walk on the moon, you guessed it, Ohio. But were you aware that Ohio has a rich history in Winemaking? Patricia Latimer’Â’s book “Ohio Wine Country Excursions” explores the history of Ohio’s Wineries.
FTA: “Latimer, author of “California Wineries of Sonoma and Mendocino,” owns a public relations and strategic planning company in San Francisco with a presence in Cleveland. She worked in the burgeoning California wine industry in the early 1970s, which gave her a good perspective on the challenges facing the revived and reinvented Ohio wine industry.”

There are, surprisingly, 65 wineries in Ohio, many of them award-winning. In Ohio Wine Country Excursions, Patricia Latimer profiles each one, and there are also gorgeous color photos as well as some very interesting Ohio wine history.
