10 Quality Sparkling Wines From Champagne For Under $30 ea.

Eric Asimov of the New York Times sat down with a small panel of tasters to pick a few good bottles of Champagne out of a tough group. The under $30 category falls short sometimes because these bottles don’t always get the respect of their big (more expensive) brothers. Tainted with two much Sulfur, a sweet style, purchased juice or fruit, can make finding a bottle in this category tricky. That’s why we leave it up to the pros to sift through the chaff and leave us with a good recommendation. An interesting note from the article is that Moet & Chandon’s White Star is specially formatted for the American Market, with a little sweetness, and ironically labeled extra dry. It was too sweet for this panel.
