Gary is on the prowl. He defends this valley like a warrior porcupine. In reality, he is a soft spoken wizard with more stories than the ocean. We all love him for what he has done for the valley. Rest assured, this valley has turned the corner and tasting rooms here are getting crowded on the weekends.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the input. I would love to have your take on the history of Livermore. My original sources for the material, although not referenced in my article, were from the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Association Website, information provided by Wente, an article appearing in the SF Chronicles wine section and other news clippings available online.

As I have found, even with the LVWA's website, data isn't always accurate, and there are conflicting numbers on most of the stats I wrote about. The purpose of my article and piece wasn't to provide consumers with a complete historical synopsis of the valley, but to inform on where the valley has been but more importantly, where it's headed.

I look forward to an update to the LVWA's website, which would benefit both my article and other readers interested in Livermore's wine history. Please let us know when that has been done by leaving a comment here.

Best Regards,

Jathan

I have read your Episode I - Livermore Valley Wine Country. I am dismayed that you have included a substantial number of errors regarding LV history in this narrative. I would certainly hope that you will correct them.

Boy this is a great rundown of the Livermore Valley. I just got done submitting an article to a magazine on this region. Really an interesting history and quite the hidden jewel too. Too few people know about these wines.

Nice post.
