Cameron Hughes Wine, Costco’s Best Bargain?

Monday, July 31st, 2006

I had a chance to sit down with couple Bay Area Wine Bloggers last week, Alder of Vinography and John from Corkdork, and taste through some new releases from Cameron Hughes Wines. Cameron lead the tasting that was put on by Kimberly Charles of Charles Communications in San Francisco, and I must say, I was [...]

WBW#23 - 2005 Herb Lamb Vineyards EII White Wine

Friday, July 7th, 2006

If you haven’t already noticed, Herb Lamb Vineyards is one of my favorite wineries from Napa Valley. This year was exciting because Jennifer and Herb came upon some Sauvignon Blanc, and under the talented hand of David DeSante released the EII White Wine under the 2005 vintage. In a word, this wine is breathtaking. Not [...]

NV Maui Blanc - Hawaiian Pineapple Wine

Monday, June 19th, 2006

Made from the juice of pineapples, this white wine comes from Tedeschi Vineyards on Maui, Hawaii. Described as “a soft, dry, fruity wine with an unmistakable pineapple bouquet,” the winemakers hit the nail on the head when they printed the labels for this one. Unfortunately, some of it’s golden color comes from caramel additives. [...]

Aubert Ritchie Vineyard Sonoma Coast Chardonnay 2004

Tuesday, June 6th, 2006

I’m usually not one to spend a lot of money on a Chardonnay, as I strongly feel, for around $30 or so you can have a fantastic bottle that fires on all cylinders. However, I do find myself splurging ever so often. Whether it’s a good review or a hard to find bottle that I [...]

Judgment of Paris II: Results

Thursday, May 25th, 2006

Round No.2 of France vs. Californian wines, has gone to the Americans. The first “Judgment of Paris” [Wikipedia] put on by Steven Spurrier in 1976 produced the same result. Now, 30 years later, the tasting has been repeated, and the American wines took 1st through 5th place, while the wines from Bordeaux garnered the next [...]

WBW #21 2004 Andrew Lane Gamay Noir, Napa Valley

Friday, May 19th, 2006

There’s nothing better than Gamay Noir, a.k.a. Beaujolais. What a sec, did I just type that? The truth of the matter is, I’ve never had Gamay Noir, (or Beaujolais for that matter), before trying this bottle. After trying it, I will tell you that it isn’t my favorite, and I don’t think that it’s meant [...]

Wine Marketing Outside Of The Box

Tuesday, May 9th, 2006

If you were going to launch a new wine brand in a foreign country, what would you do? Would you hop on a plane, travel the area, and meet with as many retailers and restaurateurs as you could? Or perhaps you’d establish contact with a local distributor/ wholesaler to do that for you. Maybe it’s [...]

WTG: 2001 Herb Lamb Vineyards EII Napa Valley Red Wine

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

Introducing the WTG, or wine tasting graph, (just to mix it up a little). Hopefully, this simple graph gives you a quick reference on the 2001 E II Red Wine.

Lets discuss:
Everything about this wine is fantastic, and for around $50, this is a definite value from Napa Valley. The wine is beautiful, smells delicious; [...]
